New Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Spectroscopy (MRS) procedures
for the assessment of human tissue and organ structure and function are
developed. Main actual topics are methods for highfield and for parallel
and dynamic MRI and MRS for the quantification of brain function
functions and for selected functions of the cardiovascular and the
digestive system. In local and international collaboration with
scientific partners and clinical sites the new procedures are applied in
physiological and medical research. Latest developments are high field
techniques for the assessment of activated areas and diffusion processes
in the human brain, parallel imaging techniques for faster image
acquisition and spectroscopy, new techniques for accurate quantification
of flow and perfusion in moving structures such as the human heart, and
new methods for cardiac spectroscopy and for spectroscopic imaging and
editing of selected metabolites in the human brain.
